Renovation announcement at The Legian

Dear guests, agents, suppliers and friends of The Legian,

First and foremost a very happy New Year to you and your families and colleagues, may 2012 bring us a record year in all aspects, be it personal or professional!

It’s the Year of the Dragon commencing with the upcoming Chinese New Year on Jan 23rd, and with this it brings bold changes, valuable additions and … a new pool!

We are embarking on renovations, commencing within the 3rd week of February 2012 and following works will be in progress until May 30th 20212:

Hotel rooms
 • 2 blocks of suites will be taken out of the inventory of the hotel, hence, we will be operating with only 35 suites. Phase 2 will commence January 2013 for the remaining 2 blocks
 • The works in progress will not affect the other 2 blocks which are operationally open, as the works involved encompass following:
o   New bathroom fixtures (taps, toilets, mirrors, etc.)
    o   Complete new lighting
    o   Complete overhaul of A/C
Public Areas
 • Removal of overgrown, old and too shady trees to be replanted with mature trees
 • Landscaping of the front and back gardens as well as hotel entrance to improve the grounds and make them more tropically lush

Those were the works that will not infringe much on the guest experience as we have been doing much of the similar tasks (taking rooms out for full weeks of renovation, adding plants, etc.) so we know they will not cause a stir with these changes.

New Adult Lap Pool
The aforementioned pool will have days where the works will be noisier than others. The front sunset lawn area will be dug out (by hand) hence no machinery will be placed on the grounds to cause unsightly views and unwanted noise. To avoid having to watch them work, we are setting up a barrier between the top and the bottom pool, hence, for a few months, though the pool is open and operating fully, there will not be the infinity view to the ocean as usual.

Wading pools
Behind both the Ocean and Pool bars, the current fish ponds will be revamped into beautiful water gardens, with the far right and left corners transitioned for wading pools for small babies, separated by a low wall to allow for small children to play in shallow pools. This will enable the Legian to have 3 pools for kids and allow the new lap pool to be fully an adult pool only.

We are quite aware that this notice comes at a very delayed time, but with only 20% of business on the books we took the chance to wait until all pending developments were signed, sealed and set to move along. We will of course honour any cancellations of your booked clients if they are not keen to stay with us, and furthermore issue discounts and upgrades to the guests who will proceed with their plans.

Despite the encumbrances caused in the following months, I do hope you are as excited as we are that The Legian is finally undergoing more than just a light upgrade, I am sure you will appreciate the improvements once we are completed midyear.

With kind regards,
