Arrive Kuching in the
morning. Meet and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon,
proceed on a city tour which will take you to places
of interest such as Tua Pek Kong Temple (the oldest
Chinese Temple in Kuching), the old Gambier spice streets
with their open market, the Malay village and the Muslim
mosque, the Kuching waterfront with a recorded history
of Sarawak and the Sarawak Museum (known to be the
best museum in South East Asia). Overnight Kuching

Day 2

Early morning after
breakfast, please leave your main bag by the concierge
and depart to the Semonggok rehabilitation center,
which is about 30 minutes drive from Kuching. The Orang
Utans (jungle men of Borneo), are rehabilitated at
this sanctuary. It is a pure delight to see these charming
and entertaining Orang Utans especially during their
feeding time at 0900. Proceed toward Batang-Ai lake
(formerly Batang-Ai river), you will travel 290 km
by coach, with a few stops along the way. At Serian
town, stop for refreshment and last minute shopping,
such as insect repellent or gifts for the Ibans. You
can also visit a fascinating native fruit and vegetable
market. 2nd stop includes a visit to the pepper farm
and a stop at a place where you can observe plenty
of wild orchids and also pitcher plants, insect eating
plants. The last stop will be at “Lachau” a
small up country Chinese Village for lunch. Here you
can still observe barter trading being held between
the natives of Kalimantan, the Chinese shop owners
and the natives of Sarawak.
After lunch we proceed to the final stage of the journey,
and arrive at beautiful Batang Ai lake. At the jetty,
you will take a boat/ferry across the lake to reach the
Hilton Batang Ai. (10/15 min. trip) After check in, the
rest of the day is free at your own leisure, to enjoy
the facilities of this resort. Overnight Batang-Ai Hilton

Day 3

After breakfast, your
morning will start with a fascinating visit to natives
of Borneo. You will board native longboats for about
an hour, across the lake, and then up the river, to
reach a native longhouse. On arrival at the Longhouse,
you will be taken for a tour around the longhouse,
to meet the natives and their families. The Iban women
will organize a small market and display their handicrafts
for sale. As a tourist, you do not have to feel obliged
to buy. The Iban will perform war dances and will ask
you to join them to test their rice wine. Don’t
be shy to join them for dances and drinks, can be fun.
After the enjoyment before you leave them, you may
wish to have a short jungle walk to visit their farms
and surrounding forests, after which you return by
boat to the Hilton resort. Late afternoon at about
1645 hours, join our nature guide for a jungle walk.

Day 4

Return to Kuching by the same route, of first day,
directly to Kuching. (Abf/Lch)

Day 5

Early morning after
breakfast, depart toward Bako National Park. A National
Park since 1957, Bako covers an area of 27 sq km. Bako
contains a large range of vegetation, ranging from
lush cliff and lowland dipterocarp forest to almost
desert-like scrubs on the upper plateau. Among these
vegetation are the carnivorous plants of the pitcher,
sundews and bladderworts family. The mangrove forest
is a home for the long-nosed or proboscis monkeys (endemic
only to Borneo), long-tailed macaques, silver-leaf
monkeys, monitor lizards, deers and wild boars. We
will go on a jungle walk and Bako also offers some
good white sand beaches that provide perfect resting
spots in between jungle walks. Enjoy the unusual beauties
of eroded rocks and cliff while you deep in the warm
waters of the South China Sea. Overnight Kuching Hotel.

Day 6

After breakfast fly
to Mulu via Miri, you will be impressed to fly over
such tick jungle before to land in a small airstrip
right in the middle of jungle. Meet, greet and transfer
to the resort. After check in proceed to Mulu National
Park with one of Royal Mulu resort tour guide. Mulu
National Park is famous for the largest cave passage
in the world and a heaven for naturalist. The Park
has 1500 species of flowering plants, 170 species of
wild orchid and 67 species of animals, but sighting
of these animals are not guaranteed. Visit Lang’s
cave and Deer caves. Walk on a raised platform through
peat swamp forest. Next stop is at the Garden of Eden.
In the evening if the weather permits, it will be possible
to watch a strange phenomenon at the mouth of the cave.

Day 7
|
MULU ONWARD
|

Breakfast at the hotel.
The day begins with a new exploration of Mulu caves
and by boat to Clearwater cave. It is possible to swim
at Clearwater spring, where a picnic lunch will be
provided. After lunch a new exploration will be done
to the Cave of the Wind. Return to Mulu and proceed
to the airport for onward flight. (Abf & Picnic
