For many visitors, Lombok seems
a little like Bali, a little like Java, and, due to
a fervent Islamic appearance, a little like the Middle
East. Although it resembles all three of these, Lombok
has an unique and colorful identity of its own.
Tourism
is on the rise in Lombok and for a good reason. The
island is a true holiday paradise indeed with unpopulated
beaches, lush jungles, small tropical islands with coral
reefs teeming with underwater life, and the spectacular
Rinjanivolcano
that towers over Lombok.
Most visitors stay
at the beachfront hotels in Senggigi
or on one of the Gili Islands.
