Through the province of Tabanan we climb the narrow streets up to the romantic temple of Batukaru at the slopes of Mount Batukaru. The location of this 13th century temple is splendid. Surrounded by a lush-green forest, you can enjoy the peace of this holy place to the sound of hundreds of humming birds and insects that call the jungle around you their home. Enjoy the trip down the winding roads through stunning rice fields passed the village of Jatiluwih for lunch at a local restaurant overlooking the paddies.

After lunch we pay a visit to the market in Candikuning, famous for its big variety of tropical fruits, flowers and exotic spices. Last stop on the way home is the “Pura Ulun Danu Beratan”, dedicated to the gods of the waters, situated at the edge of the lake. Its inner court is home to the oldest Buddhist pagoda on the island.
